The Scandia 40K BTU Gas Sauna Heater is a gas-fired, floor-mounted heater built in the United States by Scandia Manufacturing, which has made sauna equipment since 1964. Per Scandia, it is the only gas-fired sauna heater manufactured in the U.S. It heats a traditional sauna room of up to 616 cubic feet and runs on natural gas or liquid propane, so the room can be built without a heavy electrical service.
The body is stainless steel: a 321-spec internal combustion chamber, a 304-spec brushed outer shell, and a 304/321-spec rock pan that holds up to eight gallons of stones. The combustion is sealed, so no gas or flue connections run inside the sauna room. The oversized rock tray lets you run the room as a dry sauna or ladle water for steam.
Controls mount on the wall outside the room. A mechanical thermostat and a 60-minute timer are standard, and a 24-hour timer is available. You choose natural gas or liquid propane, a standing pilot or a battery-powered piezo ignition, and horizontal or vertical venting to match the installation.
